Prepare for Winter Storms
The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) encourages residents to prepare now for the upcoming storm season. While a wet winter is not guaranteed, El Niño conditions can increase the likelihood of heavier rainfall and back-to-back storms across Southern California.
Taking steps now can help protect your family, home, and property from potential storm impacts. Residents are encouraged to review the attached El Niño preparedness materials provided by LACoFD and make a plan before severe weather arrives.
Free Community Sandbag Distribution
To help communities prepare for possible winter storms, LACoFD will host free sandbag distribution events throughout Los Angeles County from November 7 through November 28, 2026.
