Since its incorporation in 1960, the unprecedented growth of San Dimas has transformed the City from an essentially rural area to a well-balanced community offering industrial, commercial, and residential living. In addition to the 1,700 acre Frank G. Bonelli Recreational Area which lies within the City boundaries, there are many parks such as San Dimas Canyon Park, a city-owned golf course (San Dimas Canyon Golf Club), and over 27 miles of equestrian trails for riding. The city services include an extensive recreational program for youth and for senior citizens, and the City boasts a new modern City Hall, with excellent provisions made for County Sheriff and Fire Departments, along with a fine Los Angeles County Library and Engineering Regional Office.
Comprehensive User Fee Updates
The City of San Dimas takes great pride in delivering an array of services to our residents, the majority of which are available at no or low direct cost. We believe in upholding transparency and financial responsibility, which occasionally requires us to charge fees for specific services that cater to services benefiting individuals, rather than the broader public.
Our commitment to ensuring that these fees are both fair and reflective of actual service costs led us to undertake a rigorous assessment over the two years. Collaborating closely with a reputable firm specializing in fee studies and our dedicated City staff, we've sought to accurately determine the costs associated with each service. It's noteworthy that many of our fees have been consistent for years, with some unchanged since as early as the 1980s.
In our endeavor to maintain transparency, we presented the proposed fee adjustments through public meetings over the summer and early fall. The feedback gathered has been invaluable, culminating in the adoption of a revised fee schedule by the City Council on September 26, 2023. We sincerely appreciate our community's engagement in this important process, and we're confident that these updates strike a balance between financial sustainability and fairness for those who engage in business with the City.
