Since its incorporation in 1960, the unprecedented growth of San Dimas has transformed the City from an essentially rural area to a well-balanced community offering industrial, commercial, and residential living. In addition to the 1,700 acre Frank G. Bonelli Recreational Area which lies within the City boundaries, there are many parks such as San Dimas Canyon Park, a city-owned golf course (San Dimas Canyon Golf Club), and over 27 miles of equestrian trails for riding. The city services include an extensive recreational program for youth and for senior citizens, and the City boasts a new modern City Hall, with excellent provisions made for County Sheriff and Fire Departments, along with a fine Los Angeles County Library and Engineering Regional Office.

The San Dimas Recreation Division creates community through people, parks, and programs. The Recreation Division is headed by the Recreation Services Manager along with a Team of Coordinators, Specialists, and Recreation Leaders. We strive to provide high-quality and responsive service to our residents. It is our goal to provide activities, classes, events, and programs that enhance the physical, social and mental well-being of residents of all ages.

Landscape Maintenance
The Landscape Maintenance Division of the Parks & Recreation Department is headed by Landscape Maintenance Manager and a staff of one Municipal Arborist, one crew Supervisor, and five full-time landscape maintenance workers. They are responsible for the maintenance of all 14 city parks, 9,000 community trees, 747,000 square feet of parkways, over 100 medians, and approximately ten miles of trails.

Facilities
The Facilities Division of the Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all City-owned and operated buildings. This maintenance division performs routine maintenance on the interiors and exteriors of the buildings. Buildings such as City Hall, the Stanley Plummer Community Building, the Senior Citizen/Community Center, and the San Dimas Recreation Center are open and accessible during normal business hours and a City staff person or contracted instruction will be present for all uses. To report maintenance issues during normal business hours, contact the City Staff person present in the building, for after-hour maintenance emergencies, please contact the after-hours on-call staff (909) 322-6800.
