Since its incorporation in 1960, the unprecedented growth of San Dimas has transformed the City from an essentially rural area to a well-balanced community offering industrial, commercial, and residential living. In addition to the 1,700 acre Frank G. Bonelli Recreational Area which lies within the City boundaries, there are many parks such as San Dimas Canyon Park, a city-owned golf course (San Dimas Canyon Golf Club), and over 27 miles of equestrian trails for riding. The city services include an extensive recreational program for youth and for senior citizens, and the City boasts a new modern City Hall, with excellent provisions made for County Sheriff and Fire Departments, along with a fine Los Angeles County Library and Engineering Regional Office.
Transportation
San Dimas is easily accessible from Interstate 10, 210 and 57 Freeways. Amtrak offers service through its Pomona station and Metrolink (contact)provides commuter service from stations in Pomona and Covina. Foothill Transit (800-RIDE-INFO (743-3463)).provides local and regional bus and commuter service from many street bus stops and two commuter parking lots located in Via Verde and in the downtown area. In additional, Dial-a-Cab and Get-About provide door-to-door transportation for qualifying residents. Commercial air, both passenger and freight, are available from Ontario International Airport and local private air access is available from Brackett Field in nearby La Verne.
Foothill Transit
Foothill Transit provides bus service for the eastern San Gabriel Valley, California; including express buses to Los Angeles and Pasadena.
The new Transit Access Pass (TAP) for Foothill Transit is a re-loadable plastic card allowing 31 days of usage. TAP Cards may be purchased at the Transit stores located at:

Dial-a-Cab
The City uses a portion of its Proposition A funds, a County-wide sales tax fund, to sponsor local transportation services for its residents. One transportation service available to San Dimas residents is San Dimas Dial-a-Cab. San Dimas Dial-a-Cab is a program that uses shared-ride taxis to provide transportation and is available to anyone in San Dimas. Dial-a-Cab is easy to use and operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. San Dimas Dial-a-Cab is able to pick up San Dimas residents within approximately 45 minutes and drive them anywhere within the City. Disabled persons or those who are 60 years of age or older may also travel to limited boundaries outside San Dimas. Riders may travel to a limited number of medical facilities outside of the City as well.
The fare for senior and disabled riders to travel one way within the City or beyond City limits is $2.00. The general public traveling within the City pays $3.50 for a one way fare and will be able to travel outside San Dimas to approved medical facilities for $5.50. Senior and disabled customers may be required to provide Dial-a-Cab drivers with appropriate identification. Proper identification includes a Get About membership card, reduced fare identification from any public transit operator or a DMV Disabled Person I.D. Card. Get-About
Another transportation service available to San Dimas residents is Get About. Get About is a dial-a-ride service for people aged 60 years or older or with a disability. This service is a door-to-door service. Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available. Get About provides transportation anywhere within San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona and Claremont for only $1.00 per one-way trip. In addition, Get About also travels to other cities for various fees ranging from $ 2.50 to $12 depending on how far the trip is. To make a reservation with Get About, simply call (909) 596-5964 the day before your desired trip. The service operates between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. One must be a registered user to ride Get About.
